This study aimed at investigating the effects of video materials and demonstration of psychological experiments upon students' evaluation of teaching and l earning in General Education, as well as comparison in their evaluation between the same courses. "Mind and Behavior" (Introduction to Psychology for students who don’t major in Psychology) in 1995 and 1999. 223 students who attended the last c1 ass of "Mind and Behavior" were asked to answer two sets of questions. Tama University teaching and learning scale for students (Scale 1 ) (Morita and Otsuki, 1995 ) and questionnaire for attitude and evaluation of audio-visual materials and demonstrations of psychological experiments(Scale 2 ). The results indicated overall decrease in the students' evaluation of my teaching in the course in 1999, when compared with the previous survey in 1995, although the average score was still over 3 in 5-point scales. But, feature of my teaching didn't differ from the previous survey. For example, passion and preparation for the class were highly evaluated, and presenting diffeent viewpoints and promoting students to speak out their comments were lowly evaluated among the items both in1995 and in 1999. The results of one-way analysis of variance and regression analysis for the relationship between Scale 1 and Scale 2 suggested that not only the students' attitude for use of audio-visual materials, but also their evaluation of ap¬propriateness, interest, and meaning of the audio-visual materialsand demonstrations of psychological experiments have significant positive effects on the evaluation of teaching and learning in the course in a certain degree. The interest of the materials and the demonstrations was found to have significant correlations with the attendance as well as the eval¬uation of teaching. It was suggested that there are strong relationships between the students' attitude to teacher's media use in the course and the students' evaluation of the media use, between the students' evaluation to the media use and their evalu¬ation to the teacher's teaching, between the students' evaluation to the teachers' teaching and the students' evaluation of the teacher's teaching skill as well as the value of the course.
