According to WHO report, of more than 50 million deaths worldwide in 1997, about one-third were due to infectious diseases; 29% were circulatory diseases; and 12% were cancers. Mortality due to infectious diseases contributes to the biggest diseases burden in developing world. On the other hand, important causes of death in developed world are life style related chronic disorders such as circulatory diseases, cancers and respiratory diseases. Change in the pattern of diseases burden from infectious diseases to that of life style related diseases is the result of epidemiologic (health) transition caused by economic improvement. However number of deaths due to infectious diseases is steadily increasing in many part of the world because certain factors favor the transmission of diseases and accelerate the spread of them. Communicable diseases, particularly vector-borne or animal related infectious dis-eases are mainly regulated by the environments, namely natural and man-made conditions. The climate change, deforestation and man-made environment like an irrigation conspire to geographical distribution of vectors or animal hosts in nature, and alter the potential for the transmission. In addition, the world is becoming increasingly urbanized. Many of poor are compelled to live in substandard housing. Their houses are overcrowded with inadequate waste disposal facilities , and contaminated water and air. The above conditions are ideal for the spread of infectious diseases. Multi-disciplinary. Area study, which cover endemic regions beyond borders, would be required in order to produce new control measures for geographically spreading infectious diseases.
